WHO IS CLIPPING FOR A CURE?
Clipping For A Cure is everyone!

Clipping For A Cure is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote and support research dedicated to developing a cure for all types of childhood cancers.

Some Facts about childhood cancer are…

  • Childhood cancer has an incidence rate of more than 14 in children between the ages of 1-14 and over 16 in those under the age of 19 in the United States alone. What this means is that each and every day of the year 46 children will be diagnosed with a form of childhood cancer in the U.S.
  • Over 3,000 children die from childhood cancer every year
  • Childhood cancer is the #1 killer of children in the United States.

We at Clipping For A Cure help to support research efforts by organizing fundraising events designed to promote awareness and raise money needed to fight these devastating diseases. Our event’s are designed to be “kid friendly” because we believe that since children and their families are the one’s most affected by these disease’s they should be able to attend and participate in the event themselves in a comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere. Our “honored child” program is just one example of this.

We at Clipping For A Cure donate 100% of our profits to research organizations such as the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital and Children’s Memorial Hospital   in the form of grants and fellowships.

Clipping For A Cure is comprised of people just like you. We are a 100% volunteer organization; None of our members receive compensation from the foundation for any of their efforts. What this means is that 100% (after cost) of money we raise goes toward childhood cancer research.

Kelly Caraynoff –Executive Director

Kelly is the founder of Clipping For A Cure.  After many years of participating and organizing events for childhood cancer research she has decided to take things to the next level.  She wants families and children to be able to participate in events together to raise funds to find a cure for these devastating diseases.  As a mother of three she hopes to someday make the month of September as golden for childhood cancer as October is pink for breast cancer. Kelly’s motto is “Working together we can find a way to conquer childhood cancer”.

Mike Caraynoff – Chief Financial Officer

Mike has been accountant for over 32 years and is the father of Clipping For A Cure’s founder.   His years of hard work as the chairman of the fund raising committee while serving on the School Board of St. Christopher’s School in Midlothian served as the inspiration for Kelly’s desire to get involved in assisting a worthwhile cause.  He was one of the first to organize a Track-A-Thon during which students raised funds by obtaining pledges based on the number of laps they would complete around the track.  He saw to it that the students and faculty alike were rewarded for their efforts by obtaining prizes from local merchants while encouraging them to support the school.  Mike and his wife Cheryl are opening a new Day Care and Early Learning Center in Minooka, IL next year and are one of the first corporate sponsors of CFAC.  Having been away from fundraising for a while, he hopes to rekindle his past success with Clipping For A Cure.

Rene Losurdo – Secretary

René is a stay-at-home mother of three little boys.  On December 21, 2005, only a couple of days after giving birth to her third son via an emergency c-section, her oldest son was diagnosed with a childhood cancer of the kidney called Wilms Tumor.

After witnessing her 5-year-old and countless others suffer through their battles with childhood cancer, as well as tragically knowing many other children who have died, she had a newfound passion to raise much needed funds and awareness for Pediatric Cancers.

When her friend, Kelly, asked her to be a part of the board for Clipping For A Cure, René saw it as the perfect opportunity to live out that passion.

René is also an ambassador with Make A Wish Foundation as a part of their Speaker’s Bureau.
