THE CLIPPING FOR A CURE FOUNDATION
CLIPPING FOR A CURE

The Clipping for a Cure Foundation is a non-profit organization founded to enhance awareness of childhood cancers and to raise money to help fund research to develop a cure for these devastating diseases.

• Childhood cancer affects over 12,400 children and adolescents
annually in the United States each year.
• There are over 30,000 different forms of cancer affecting
children and adolescents.
• Approximately 3,000 people under the age of twenty die from
cancer each year.

Our goal is to raise funds and public awareness by organizing and hosting events and fundraisers designed to bring adults and children together to provide support and the funds needed to find a cure for all types of childhood cancers.

September 20, 2008 - Childhood Cancerpalooza at Toyota Park

Join us at Toyota Park in Bridgeview Il. on September 20th 2008 for fun and excitement as we raise money to help battle childhood cancer.
There will be live music for adults and children alike, games, food, animal attractions and so much more.
We will also be shaving heads at this event, so if you would like to have your head shaved to honor the children who fight these terrible diseases on a daily basis come on out and be "Clipped"
For information on how you can become a shavee and raise money for cancer research by doing so, please contact us.

So come on out to Toyota Park in Bridgeview IL. on September 20th and join the fun!
On September 20th 2008, Geoff Akins will shave his head in support of Childhood Cancer Research on the condition that $3,500.00 is raised by sponsors also willing to support this worthy cause.
Please pledge whatever amount you can in order that we can help battle childhood cancer and see Geoff shave his head. And please come out to Toyota Park in Bridgeview Illinois on Sept 20th and help us fight these awful diseases!
Geoff will be on WGN TV on Sept 16th during the 8:00am hour to tell his story.A text version of why Geoff so solidly supports childhood cancer research is below.

Fifteen years ago my nephew Alan was diagnosed with Leukemia. There
may have been others in my extended family who have struggled with
Cancer at one time or another over the years but this hit close to home
because Alan was just a boy. As a result of his chemo treatments Alan lost
all his hair.
In a show of solidarity I cut off my shoulder length hair and shaved
my head smooth on Thanksgiving morning. I pulled on a hat and drove to
my nephew’s house. When I arrived I found him sleeping in bed. I sat
down beside him and when he rolled over and opened his eyes I smiled
and slowly removed my hat. The look on his face was priceless!
Now, years later, Alan is twenty-one years old and in complete
remission…and my hair is once more down to my shoulders. On September 20th
I will perform my Bubble Wonders show for the Clipping for a Cure event
at Toyota Park. The theme of the show is “Anything is possible!”
This message takes on an even deeper meaning when it comes to those
struggling with Cancer.
If kind-hearted donors collectively pledge $3,500 I have agreed to
have volunteers shave my head right on stage before I perform. I have
also agreed to videotape this spectacle and post it on my website for all
to enjoy. So if you would like to make a difference in the lives of
others (but draw the line at shaving your own head) please donate whatever
you can and remember no matter the amount, the result will be
priceless!
 With light, love and laughter,
 Geoff
